Ellon Learning Centre

Our new Ellon Learning Centre is located in the Ellon Academy Annex in the centre of town. A partnership initiative between the College and Aberdeenshire Council, the new Centre has undergone a significant upgrade and now comprises of
eight rooms, fully equipped to deliver Business & Computing, Care
and Technology courses.
The Centre will also be offering an increased range of evening classes, full-time and Skills for Work courses from 2009.

Courses at Ellon Learning Centre
This IOSH approved course will ensure workers at all levels are aware of their responsibility for safety towards themselves, colleagues and others affected by work activities.
On successful completion of this course delegates will be able to:
- Identify the hazards and evaluate the risks in their workplace
- Use appropriate workplace precautions for specific risks
- Assist managers in preparing written risk assessments
- Follow their organisation's health & safety policy
- Co-operate and communicate on safety matters
- Carry out work activities without risk to themselves or others
- Report relevant accidents and incidents
- Monitor their own activities and assist managers in monitoring

To work as a door steward in Scotland you need to have a licence issued by the Security Industry Authority (SIA). To gain an SIA licence you need to satisfy 3 requirements - pass an identity check, pass a criminal records check and possess a recognised door supervisor qualification.
