Course Content:
The course consists of:
- Possible dangers associated with the use of abrasive wheels and the precautions which should be observed
- Characteristics of abrasive wheels and the methods of marking abrasive wheels
- Method of storing, handling and transporting of abrasive wheels
- Methods used for inspecting and testing to check for damage
- Function of all components used with abrasive wheels and knowledge of the correct and incorrect methods of assembling components and correct balancing of abrasive wheels
- Trueing, dressing and balancing of abrasive wheels guards, work rest and speed
- Requirements of the regulations
- Safety points to be observed
- Final assessment of competency
Description: This one day course aims to equip individuals with the knowledge/skills required for the safe use of abrasive wheels and to raise awareness of the safety issues. Satisfactory assessment will lead to the provision of a safe and competent use of abrasive wheels certificate.
Prerequisites: PPE, overalls, safety shoes and eye protection are required.
Target group: Welders
Additional Notes: This course is a full day of training & assessment.
Venue: This course is delivered at the main College campus in Fraserburgh, however may also be delivered in client premises, subject to equipment meeting current Health and Safety legislation.
